My Honest Review of Sandals Grande St. Lucian: Why It’s My Favorite Resort in St. Lucia
I’ve had the opportunity to experience all three Sandals resorts in St. Lucia, and while each has something unique to offer, Sandals Grande St. Lucian is, without question, my favorite. It’s the resort I find myself recommending most often to honeymoon couples because it delivers that “wow” factor from the moment you arrive.
As someone who has visited countless resorts throughout the Caribbean, this one still stands out every time I return.
The Location Is Simply Unmatched
One of the things that makes Sandals Grande St. Lucian so special is its location.
The resort sits on a beautiful peninsula with the calm, turquoise Caribbean Sea on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. There’s something incredibly special about waking up knowing you’re surrounded by water in almost every direction.
The beach is one of my favorites in the entire Sandals collection. The water is calm, crystal clear, and perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, or simply floating together while taking in the incredible views.
Every evening, I found myself stopping just to appreciate the scenery. It never gets old.
My Favorite Base for Exploring St. Lucia
While I absolutely love relaxing at the resort, I also think Grande St. Lucian is a fantastic home base for exploring the island.
Some of my favorite memories include hiking through St. Lucia’s lush mountains, taking in breathtaking viewpoints, and spending time experiencing everything that makes this island so unique beyond the resort.
If you’re the type of couple that wants to combine beach time with adventure, St. Lucia is one of the best islands in the Caribbean—and Grande makes it easy to enjoy both.
The Atmosphere Is Exactly What I Want on Vacation
Some resorts are incredibly quiet.
Others feel like nonstop spring break.
For me, Sandals Grande St. Lucian strikes the perfect balance.
During the day, there’s plenty happening around the pools if you want to be social, but it’s also easy to find a quiet spot on the beach if relaxing is your priority.
At night, the resort really comes alive.
I loved having live music, entertainment, themed parties, and piano bar evenings without ever feeling overwhelmed. Whether we wanted to grab a cocktail and listen to music or dance for a while before calling it a night, there was always something going on.
It’s lively enough to feel exciting but still romantic enough that it never loses that honeymoon atmosphere.
The Food Never Disappointed
One of the biggest advantages of staying at any Sandals resort in St. Lucia is the ability to enjoy all three resorts.
That means dozens of restaurants are available throughout your stay.
Some evenings we stayed at Grande, while other nights we visited Halcyon or Regency La Toc for dinner before heading back.
Having that variety makes longer stays feel completely different each day.
My Advice About Getting to the Resort
There is one thing I always discuss with my honeymoon couples before they book.
The drive from Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) to the resort can take around 90 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions.
The roads are winding and mountainous, and if you know you’re prone to motion sickness, I strongly recommend considering a ferry transfer or helicopter transfer instead of driving.
While the drive offers beautiful scenery, it can be challenging for travelers who don’t handle winding roads well.
Whenever my clients mention motion sickness, I almost always recommend budgeting for one of these upgraded transfer options. Starting your honeymoon feeling relaxed instead of queasy is well worth it.
